How to uninstall netgear router from computer

Unplug the old router and install the new one period. Now just configure it like normal per the instructions in the manual. Message 4 of 8. I didn't think it would be as simple as that. Another website I won't name, which seems to be reliable most times, told me to uninstall the old router first before installing the new one. Good thing I came here. Message 5 of 8.

Mars Mug. The setup process for the Netgear router may leave a setup application on the PC used for the configuration, this could and perhaps should be removed if you intend to use the router setup disk. I have tried all the usual options without success. Any suggestion please how I might do this. I have access to the internet via my MacBook pro on another router system but I cannot even get internet access on my iMac. Not having access via my iMac is like having my arms cut off!

So any help would be much appreciated. Posted on Mar 31, AM. Page content loaded. Mar 31, AM in response to tonyfrompontfarcy In response to tonyfrompontfarcy.

Mar 31, AM. I had a look at their website but did not contact them directly. I will do that now. Thanks very much. You're welcome. I did notice there wasn't much info on their site. Hopefully contacting them will be some help. Mar 31, AM in response to dialabrain In response to dialabrain. Mar 31, AM in response to garyfromrio linda In response to garyfromrio linda. The software that came with the router was "Genie". That is all I can find out, I am afraid. If you have deleted the app, then go to Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder and check under the CPU tab if Genie is listed as active.

If there is nothing related to Genie or Netgear then you should be good. If there is, than double click on the entry and quit it in the info window that appears and reboot the computer. Check Activity Monitor than for any signs of the app. Netgear Genie is not really needed in-order to connect your iMac to the router. You should be able to do that via the iMac's Network preferences. I have had enough today. My head is going round. Time for an aperitif! Here in France everything is solved with a drink before dinner! One last thing before you hang it up for the evening, how do you connect to your router, wireless or Ethernet? If the router and your computer are close try hooking your computer to the router by Ethernet cable then in Network System Preferences choose Ethernet as connection type.

If all works then you should get a green light next to it. Bon Apetit! My iMac is connected to the Netgear router via Ethernet cable. Thanks in advance for your help! This thread is locked.
